During the “Umpteen Days of Christmas“, I’m giving away some really cool Reds-related stuff here on Better Off Red.  Several Reds departments within the front office have graciously donated these prizes as a “thank you” for your support.

Congratulations to Day 10 winner – Harmony Brooks!

Today’s gifts are a miniature pewter Johnny Bench statue courtesy of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum and a Reds home jersey with “Valiquette” on the back courtesy of the Reds Authentics department.

This would be a great christmas present for my son

I need a reds jersey!

Awesome giveaway! That would look great in anybody’s collection (hopefully mine!).

i was born in 1975 during the height of the big red machine. my favorite player growing up was johnny bench #5. man i would love this as a life long reds fan there isnt a better gift i could recieve. i even used to watch baseball buch man i idolized mr bench. still do go redlegs. merry christmas everybody

I feel like I’m getting
More lazy with my comments, but I want to win the item more and more! Go reds!!!

Maybe Santa can bring this to me for Christmas? I’ve been good.. I think.

I’m a big Johnny Bench fan and have seen his exhibit in the Reds Hall Of Fame many times this year (I’m a member) so I definitely would love to win the statue. Plus, winning that jersey would be great too!

OMG – Being Fav Player of all time is Mr. Johnny Bench. Honest – I became a catcher in Little League, because my father took me to see The Big Red Machine beat the Mets in NYC in 1976. Been a Reds – Bench – #5 fan ever since. Hence the 5 in my twitter handle!

A statue of Johnny would be a perfect gift for my dad, who is one of Johnny’s biggest fans. The jersey is a great, unique item considering it doesn’t have a number. Thanks again!

Love this stuff !!!! Gotta win sometime. Can’t win withour a lucky number.

Would love this.

I would like to win because I never, ever win anything.

Johnny made me want to be a catcher growing up and was one of the biggest reasons I started following the Reds as a child in the 70s. I would love to add this to my collection of Reds items…And a jersey, too!!

Johnny Bench is my all time favorite Reds player. I would love to have the status. As a kid in the 1970’s, I followed Johnny Bench and the Reds very closely. My son would love to have the jersey.

Pick me! Pick me! Both would make great last minute Christmas gifts and keep me from having to shop!

JB is my all-time favorite player!

As a kid, I had the pleasure of watching the Big Red Machine. Bench was the hart and soul of that team, providing consistency and presence. His offense was terrific, but most people forget what a great catcher he really was…handling the pitchers, throwing out runners, dictating the pace of the game. I watched him on the Baseball Bunch and heard him once say, “Pay attention to the small details…that’s what separates those who are great from those who are merely good.” That quote has always stuck with me, so I’d love to have the pewter statue to display in my office as a reminder of the importance of that truth. And the jersey would be an added bonus!

I would love this! I was at Johnny Bench night when they unveiled his statue, and a little one would be the perfect way to remember. Plus everyone needs a new Reds jersey ever now and then!

My son is a big Bench fan! and he’s still recovering from the Alonso trade ;o(

That statue would look great with my Bench bobbleheads!

I would like to win these so I could spread the fandom of the Cincinnati Reds. These would make great gifts for my family for which I have not been able to buy anything for them, because I like many others are suffering from this very down economy. We all love the Reds in this house and we are patiently waiting for spring to return.

Would love to have these!!

Johnny Bench would want me to win this.

I want one of those statues so bad!

Greg aka @munsen02

My dad would love this!

I’m a life long, out of market Utah Cincinnati Reds fan! I’d love to put the Bench statue on my desk, and new jersey to watch the games with.

huge fan of bench. who wouldnt want this. bench, rose, perez, man those were the days

This would be the centerpiece of the humble yet meaningful Reds shrine in my house! It’s a fantastic tribute to the greatest catcher of all time!

I would love too give my 82 year old grandma that statue she has always loved johnny and the jersey would keep for me.

Johnny was my childhood hero, and I never missed him on The Baseball Bunch every Saturday. He was so much better than Lasorda.😉 He is still at the top of a long list of great players I’ve enjoyed in a Reds uniform. And ya gotta love the Valiquette uni!

When I was 5, Johnny Bench visited me in the hospital. I was upset that I was in the hospital over the summer so when a nurse saw him, she asked if he would come say hi to me. He said yes – and came to my room. I made him wait outside the room while I changed into my baseball pajamas. He came in and signed my “visit to the hospital” golden book – which I still have today. As a result, to this day he’s still my all time favorite Red. I’d love to have the figure! (the jersey would be awesome too – but the figure is what I REALLY want.)

Whether I win or not, thanks for doing this, Jamie!

Ironic. I just changed my name to Vander Valiquette last Thursday.

That Bench mini would sure look great on the board for our families yearly holiday Monopoly game! It would no doubt be the ‘must have lucky piece’ for the Reds fans in our family. Replacing the car of course. And the Valiquette jersey would be a great prize to the poor sap who always ends up landing on Boardwalk. Me!

Happy Holidays and Go Reds!

I just like the stuff!!!!!

This would be awesome to win. Johnny Bench is the greatest catcher of all time!

Pick me please. Thanks!

I’m a big Johnny Bench fan (like everyone else) and would love to add the pewter statue to my collection.

I grew up a bench fan, wearing #5 everychance I got, was a catcher for years… and I too really need a reds jersey.. my last one has now become my wife’s night shirt.. trust me looks better on her😉

Bench is my faorite BRM member and I would love to add a Phillipe Valiquette jersey to my collection!

This would look great in my new office. I love showing my Reds pride in an office full of Cardinals fans. Don’t worry, I’m working on bringing them to the right side!

The Bench statue would be pretty awesome to win.

The Valiquette Jersey would make an awesome 25th Birthday Present to myself as a Life Long Reds fan!
And the Johnny Bench statuette would make a great addition to my “Reds of Yore” themed present for my Old Man (i.e. the books about Nuxy and Sparky), who has also been a Reds fan for his 60-some odd years.

Being a customer of Jon’s and Reds Authentics already, I’d look forward to making that jersey one I’d wear myself (I’d have it customized). First course of business, wear it to the HOF to again see the Bench display and to watch my youngster do the speed pitch downstairs there. Second course of business would be to stop by and see Jon so I could tease him about his overexcited grin in the second picture, which is what motivated me to enter the drawing. I haven’t seen a gleeful grin that big since I looked in the mirror after my first purchase from Jon after Redsfest… thankfully, I wasn’t photographed. Jon, you are as happy as a 2 year old who just met Jay Bruce dressed as Santa Claus🙂

Dan in Batavia

Cool statue!

Hanukkah is before Christmas, so this would come just in time for me!

This would be the perfect gift, for me, to give to my grandpa. He is a huge Johnny Bench fan, so that alone would make his day. The jersey would be an added bonus. Though, it is not someone on the current 40 man roster it would still be an upgrade from his Austin Kearns jersey he still wears. Thank you and please allow me to make his Christmas special by giving him this wonderful gift. Go Reds!!!

Its my 21st birthday!

I have been thinking, as big a fan as I am, I’d give the Bench Statue to my buddy Jeff Granger. He is a huge Bench fan as well and would whole heartily cherish the item from BOR and the Reds.

I have s 2 year old granddaughter and one of here first words was Johnny she loves baseball and we can’t wait for the season to start. I recently upgraded my seats so she would be closer to the action and she yells hey batter batter swing batter.

Thank you

Mr. Bench is one of our family’s fav Reds of all times! Would love to win this one. Thanks! Happy Holidays!

This would be a great gift for my dad becase he like Johnny Benchand I do not have anything for him for Christmas yet.

I am a product of the Big Red Machine. Graduated HS in May 76, sandwiched in between the two World Championships. This Jersey and Johnny’s statue will be perfect for my Reds Mancave. I need something to put on top of my recently aquired Turnstile from the GABP and this just might be the item.

A gaggle of friends is attending a series at Wrigley next August, I pledge to wear the Valiqiette jersey in the left field bleachers and submit photographic evidence afterwards to Mr Ramsey, do it can be redistributed with my expressed written consent.

Let me just add that I can replace Valiquette very easily with Bartholomew, saving the A and last E and reusing the L. Think Green!

i would love this im a loyal reds fan. and i dont have a jersey so that would be awesome to win one

I would love to show my Reds pride to my friends if I won these 2 items🙂 Happy Hollidays and can’t wait for the 2012 season! @runrgrl12

Although I have lived just outside Kansas City for the past seven years, I was born and raised as a Reds fan in Dayton, OH. My love for the Reds has only gotten stronger since moving to KC, and I try to showcase my dedication to the team every chance I get. I deserve to win today’s giveaway because I have stuck by the Reds through good times and bad, and I will always do so. People often tell me a Reds win or loss should not dictate whether I am in a good or bad mood, and my response to them is always the same – “let’s just hope the Reds win tonight.”

Not sure what the Valiquette is all about, but I would still love to have these awesome prizes!

I am currently single, and I think that Reds jersey could provide me the much-needed break that I am looking for. Happy holidays everyone. Be good Reds fans and if you can’t be good, be good at it!

I love Johnny Bench!

My dad is a retired Army Colonel from Cincinnati who has served overseas on multiple occasions to include a year in Iraq. He graduated from Anderson Highschool in 1976 and it goes without saying, he is a huge Big Red Machine fan! Now living in Kentucky as he continues to work serving injured and fallen soldiers, he is currently trying to create a “Big Red Machine” themed man cave. I can’t think of a better addition go his man cave than this statue and jersey proudly displayed.

i should win because ive been good this year. im taking honor classes and im on honor roll

Great gifts that would compliment our Reds collection!

One of my best Reds/Johnny Bench moments I was present for was September 17,1983, the first Johnny Bench Night. Seeing Johnny catch a game one last time and hit his 389th and last homerun is a memory I will treasure forever.

I have lived in Southern California all of my life and most of my family are Dodgers or Angels fans, but it was because of Johnny Bench that I became a huge Reds fan. And to win this would be great.

Who wouldn’t want a Phillipe Valiquette jersey? The pride of Quebec.

bench is awesome. i need it.

Because everyone here in Va. are Braves fans. Needs to start converting them over to the light.

As a life-long Reds fan, I still have very few items from the Big Red Machine. I would LOVE to have the Bench figure! It would look nice next to my baseball autographed by Morgan. Go Reds!
