UMPTEEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS – DAY FIVE

For the next “umpteen” days, I’ll be giving away some really cool Reds-related stuff here on Better Off Red.  Several Reds departments within the front office have graciously donated these prizes as a “thank you” for your support.

Congratulations to Jason McKendree, winner of Day Four’s prize – the Joey Votto Pick-4 Ticket Package!

Today I’m giving away a Jose Arredondo game-worn jersey and 3 game-used baseballs from the 2011 season.  These prize were donated by the Reds authentics department.

i would like to win this because my brother is a big St. Louis fan and if i could win this i could rub it in his nose.

I would like to win because I am a long time Reds fan. Have been one since them mid fifties growing up. I have Reds memorabillia from the 1961 National League Champions Team Photo. I have been to many games at all 3 Ballparks and never have gotten a foul ball!

What a fun contest! I don’t envy you having to pick just one winner, Jamie. If you choose me, I will send you a pic of my 11-year old son, a budding Reds fan, unwrapping the jersey and two of the balls. (The other one will go to my staunch Cubs fan brother-in-law. But don’t hold that against him, he’s a good guy expect for that!)

I’m interested in winning because I’m a man

This would be a perfect gift for my nephews……………but I don’t have any nephews so I’d just keep it for myself.

It’s easy to sum it up if you’re just talking about baseballs. We’re sitting here, and you’re supposed to be the greatest writer, and we’re talking about baseballs. I mean listen, we’re sitting here talking about baseballs, not a game, not a game, not a game, ok it is a game ball but we’re talking about baseballs. Not the game that you go out there and die for and write about every game like it’s your last but we’re talking about baseballs man. How silly is that? I want the jersey!

Although I have lived just outside Kansas City for the past seven years, I was born and raised as a Reds fan in Dayton, OH. My love for the Reds has only gotten stronger since moving to KC, and I try to showcase my dedication to the team every chance I get. I am currently a student at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and I always find a way to incorporate the Reds in to every project that is assigned to me. For example, I have taken several web design courses as elective credits, and my website is 95% Reds related (check it out by following the link found in the “Website” field below).

My dad played for the Old Louisville Colonels in the 1940s. He got homesick and quit after one season. He loved the game and coached my brothers and other youngsters until the 1990s. He is still active in working with kids to get college scholarships playing baseball.

At 86, he has a very difficult time getting around to be able to attend games at Great American. He watches the Reds on Fox Sports Ohio Indiana. He would very much appreciate the significance of the baseballs or the jersey.

An Arredondo jersey would be the coolest Christmas gift for my Dad, a born and raised Reds fan! I’m no more or less worthy of the jjersey than anyone else on here, but this would be a special gift for my Dad’s Christmas!

*jersey :)

I would love to win this because it would look perfect in my reds collection. Also, I can give my best friend one of the balls for Christmas! I love the reds and I would love for this to be my christmas present! Go redlegs :)

I’d love to win it because it would make a great addition to my collection!

I have been a huge reds fan my whole life and am an avid collector of reds memorabilia. I have always wanted to add piece of game used memorabilia to my collection but have always stuck to autographs on baseballs and cards due to cost. This jersey and the game used balls would be a great addition to add to my collection which I proudly display in my basement.

I’d love to win this because I consider myself a big Reds fan and it would be the ultimate Christmas present.

I have always wanted more game-used things. The used baseballs would fit nicely in my collection.

This uniform would show my Reds Spirit!

I would love to have this jersey, because I would jump way up in the alphabet while wearing it.

I think that I should win because he is my favorite player. I got my picture with him at Redsfest which I drove 4 hours to. I believe that he is going to be an All Star oneday.

Who wouldn’t love this? He’s got one of the coolest names on the Reds.

I would where this proudly at reds games as the Reds closer jersey for 2012!…He is best in house candidate!

I would love to win this to give to my husband and son as amazing Christmas gifts! My husband collects Reds memorabilia and is emphatic about getting our son involved as well…what a start!!!

I will mail one of the balls to Albert in LA, and proudly wear the jersey when ever I go out in public.

i like reds stuff!!

My other tactics have thusfar failed, so here goes…Pick me, pick me, pick me! Ohhh pretty please with sugar on top? Please, please, please? You know ya wanna! :) Thanks BOR!

I need this stuff because I love the Reds!

I am a big Reds fan. I have watched every game since I was 10 years old. I would love to have this jersey because I have never been able to afford to buy one. Plus I have never won anything in my life.

I would like to win this prize package because l love better off red and I’m one of the biggest Reds fan. I follow the Reds daily through the season and after. I also am getting ready to fix up my basement and the Jersey and balls would look great in my reds basement. Thanks!

This would be really cool for my son Nick! He already has an autographed Reds #33 jersey framed and hanging in his bedroom. It was his jersey that he wore with “Aurilia” on the back because he was Rich Aurilia’s biggest fan when he was here. A matching jersey of the current Red would be pretty cool. Game used balls are always awesome too!

I’d like to win because this Arredondo jersey looks way better than the Fred Lewis jersey I picked up at Redsfest.

I have a small collection of Reds items and would like to add these to it.

If i should be lucky enough to win i would donate them to the Fairmount, W.VA. DAC for thier bingo that they once a year to raise money for thier building fund. thank you

Because I am stuck out here living among Phillies fans!

After making a spectacular return from Tommy John surgery, I can only assume that Arrendondo has some sort of super human powers. I imagine that the jersey itself contains some of Arrendondo’s magnificence. Not that I’m expecting to post his ERA or hit extra inning singles that help lead to a Reds win. But at least, with his jersey, and game used balls, I could (try to) convince people that I’m on the Reds roster…

I would love to be able to give this to my 16 year old daughter. She is a big Reds fan. She is always talking about the Reds. She watches the Reds everynight on TV, and I take her to a few games a year.

it would be a better end to a bad month

As my room of reds memorabilia grows each and every year after reds fest, from all and bobbleheads to the thousands of baseball cards collected over the years a jersey hanging on the wall would be just a perfect fit.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

As a huge Reds fan, this would go great in my home. I would be proud to show off what BOR did for me and would be so grateful. Thanks for even giving the opportunity!

I have a grandson in Indianapolis who’s father is a big Mets fan and had always pushed his son that way. Up until now it has worked but as a big Jose Reyes he was crushed when he went to the Marlins and told his dad he thinks he might swinging grandpa’s way and go Reds. A jersey for Christmas would be item that would turn the tide especially since he likes Latin players and this is Arrendondo.

This would make a great present for my family. They love the Reds and watch them on TV all the time. They make the 4 1/2 hour trip from West Virginia to Cincinnati for a couple of games and Redsfest yearly.

I’d love this because I was at the game when Arredondo got his first hit and won the game!

I’d like to win because (a) BOR is a fantastic blog for all one’s Reds needs [& is linked on my personal blog], (b) Arredondo was really nice when we met at Redsfest, (c) it would make some dear friends very happy, and (d) because I won pop culture trivia! Thanks, Jamie & Reds staff! Great idea :)

This would go great with the rest of my Reds collection.

Hey Jamie. The reason I would like to win this is because my friend and I have started a little charity group for kids that are in need – whether they are in the hospital for an injury or another health issue, if they are in a foster home or whatever trouble they have. This weekend we are going to Children’s Hospital and taking gifts that were donated for them to open for Christmas. These balls would make a few kids very happy. That is why I would like to win these.

My son is a 10 years old and a pitcher in little league. We would love the jersey for a Christmas gift!!

This would be a great addition to the Man Cave, Go Reds!!!

Quite simply, I’m the greatest Reds fan of all time! And, that jersey and balls would really tie my Reds room together.
