UMPTEEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS – DAY THREE

For the next “umpteen” days, I’ll be giving away some really cool Reds-related stuff here on Better Off Red. Several Reds departments within the front office have graciously donated these prizes as a “thank you” for your support.

Today I’m giving away one (1) free Redlegs Run 5K entry, courtesy of the Reds Community Fund.  If you’d like to participate in the Redlegs Run on June 2, 2012, leave a comment below explaining why.  One random winner will be notified tomorrow (Monday).

Congratulations to yesterday’s winner of the RCF goodie bag – Randall!

Ooh, this would be a perfect gift for me! Working hard to get in shape and was planning on doing the run anyway..but a little extra motivation never hurts.

Who doesn’t love helping the reds community fund?? One of those is the redlegs run. I can’t wait 2012 will be my third year joining the run for home. Its also a great way to get motivated with the #BORfitclub

After giving birth to my first child this summer, I am looking to forward to getting back into running. Not only for myself and my health but to be a positive and healthy influence on my daughter’s self image as she grows up. Participating in the Redlegs Run not only helps me acheive this but it helps us continue to foster a deep love for our Reds!

I want to start running 5k’s and want my first 5k experience to be a special one. I’m a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and it would be very special to have my first 5k to be the Reds Run.

Jamie,
Back in 2007, I was overweight. I weighed 220 lbs. and could barely walk or light jog a mile before I was out of breath. My parents bought a treadmill and I started utilizing it frequently. I was laid off from my job but instead of laying around doing nothing, I starting running every day. Thanks to the treadmill I was able to get down to my current weight of 180 lbs. Now I try to run around 3 miles, 3-4 times a week. I’ve been running in several 5K’s recently and they have been a fun and great exercise all at the same time. While I’ve haven’t participated in a Red’s 5K yet, I’m sure my 1st one will be a blast!

I recently spent 4 weeks w excruiating joint pain that was eventually diagnosed as a severe allergic reaction. However, I spent some time afraid that I had something more serious and/or chronic. I was unable to walk most days, let alone run. Not being able to exercise for 4 weeks made me weak as a kitten. This would help with my motivation to get back in it, celebrate not having a chronic disease, AND I could finally convince my BFF (and fellow Reds fan) to do a race with me!

I’ve ran it the last two years and plan on making it a third in 2012. I’ll wear red shoelaces during the race, in true BOR form.

My mom and I ran in seven 5ks this year including the Redlegs. This past summer, my husband and kids ran with me in the Redlegs and we would love to do it again next year! Thanks Jamie!

I really want to win something.

I recently started running and trained the latter part of this year for the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 10K. It was a great race and I would love to run the Redlegs 5K for the first time and head for home and continue to stay in shape and keep up with running. I plan to wear my Better Off Red shirt for the race :] Thank you and Happy Holidays!

My first 5K was meant to be the Redlegs Run a couple years ago with my Dad. Sadly, I missed the race due to a tragic twist of fate. (I had to work.) Unbeknownst to me, and I believe my Dad, I managed to log a time for the race. (Mostly because he had carried “my” chip in a bag and didn’t realize it.) I’m not even sure this sort of thing is okay in the Reds racing world!?!?! Jamie, please, I beg you! I need to redeem myself! Plus, since this mishap, I’ve actually become a runner. That’s right, I finish my own races now. And the Redlegs Run is on my list of DREAM races! Thanks from @stephseesgreen!

My husband and I live in Illinois, about 5.5 hours away from GABP. We have been full season ticket holders for the last 4 years and take in about 50+ games a year. About 3 years ago we decided to just buy a house in the area because it had to be cheaper than all the hotels we’d been staying in. Now that we have the house and spend our summers in Cincinnati my husband who is a runner has wanted to do the Redlegs 5K and every year we have had a family obligation and my husband has never been able to do it. He always comes with me to do my family stuff and never complains. I know he would rather be doing the race but he never says the like. I know this because I have caught him checking out the times of past races and then tells me when he might have finished. This year I would love to surprise him with the Redlegs run registration and letting him know he always finishes 1st with me!!
