Semifinalists announced for Cincinnati’s Got Talent

The Reds are pleased to announce the semifinalists for the inaugural Cincinnati’s Got Talent competition at Redsfest: 

Angela Cheslock is originally from Bowling Green, Ohio. Eariler this year she appeared on Season 10 of American Idol and was featured alongside Lauren Alaina and Steven Tyler. She currently attends Belmont University in Nashville where she is studying Music Business.

Taylor Baye Brown and Katie Giuliano attend Xavier University. Taylor is a junior music education major (specializing in voice) from Commerce, Michigan. Katie is a senior music performance (specializing in harp) and early childhood education double major from Cincinnati, Ohio.

JetSetGetSet is a harmonizing trio of 14-year-old girls from Southeastern Indiana. Sadie, Avery, and Tori attend South Dearborn High School and Greendale Middle School. They play piano and guitar and have entertained audiences at the Minnesota and Indiana State Fairs and the Kentucky Speedway. 

Claire Northcut is a third grader from Mason, Ohio. Claire loves singing, dancing, art, playing piano and softball.

“A Side of Taylors” is a singing family from Montgomery, Ohio. Laurel is 14, Mason is 12 and plays the mandolin and sings lead, Lydia is 10 and the dad, Chris plays guitar.

Laruen Mikhail is a Cincinnati-native who studied piano for 12 years at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and has played guitar for four years. She will be attending UC in January to study speech pathology and voice therapy.  

McGing Irish Dancers are located in Blue Ash. The group consists of five dancers: Drew Lovejoy, a senior at Ohio Connections Academy; Kelsey Green, a junior at Mount Notre Dame High School; Ally Garcia, a sophomore at Campbell County High School; Brian McLaughlin, a junior at Carroll High School and Keara Saud, a senior at Mount Notre Dame High School.

JJ Long a Junior Music Education major at Xavier University. He is originally from Chicago, Illinois and is excited to be singing in his first competition.

Kali Armstrong is from Cincinnati and studies Wildlife Biology at UC. She will be accompanied guitarist Taylor Sullivan, a Lebanon, Ohio native who is a physics major at Miami University.

Hannah Kaltenbach is currently studying Communications at UC. Hannah has only been singing for a couple years, but enjoys it very much.
The semifinalists will compete Friday at 9:15pm on the Redsfest Main Stage.

Five semifinalists will move on to the finals on Saturday at 4 pm and will compete for the $1,000 first prize.

The judges for Friday and Saturday are Bronson Arroyo, Mike Leake and Todd Frazier.

The semifinals on Friday will feature guest judge Rick Steiner. A Cincinnati-native and 1964 graduate of Walnut Hills High School, Rick has co-produced five Tony Award winning musicals, including The Producers, Hairspray and the current smash Broadway hit The Jersey Boys. He is also a winner of six poker tournaments, including the 1992 7-Card-Stud Hi-Low Event at the World Series of Poker and will be the emcee of Saturday’s Reds Community Fund Texas Hold ’em Poker Tournament.

Bonus performances on Friday consist of Gracie Harper & Nate Goodlett and Simeon Yisrael.

Gracie is in 3rd grade at Summit Elementary. She studies dance at The Studio for Dance in Blue Ash. Nate is in 4th grade at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Nate also studies dance at The Studio for Dance. Gracie and Nate have performed at Riverbend with The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, as well as with The Windsor Symphony in Windsor, Canada. They both have also performed at the Music Hall with the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus.

Simeon Yisrael is a 4th grader at Bond Hill Academy and plans on attending the school of Creative and Performance Arts or St. Francis DeSales in 2012.
