…..

…..
And here’s a Halloween pic sent in to Better Off Red…

That's my main man Nick on the right wearing his orange and black Joey Votto t-shirt...and that's Katie on the left dressed up as a Zach Bonkowski

…..
For those of you clamoring for Redsfest information (and let’s be honest, why wouldn’t you be?), keep your eyes peeled to BOR and Reds.com/Redsfest. The 411 will be posted very soon.
…..
Usually in the offseason, I check out my “Redleg Journal” by Greg Rhodes and John Snyder for notable this ”date in Reds history” information. Not to bum you out, but I stumbled upon this one from November 1, 1937:
“Benny Frey, who had pitched for the Reds since 1929, commits suicide at his home in Michigan…During spring training of 1937, Frey suffered arm problems and the Reds demoted the veteran sending him to the minors. Frey refused to report and returned to his home near Jackson, Michigan. According to family members, the 31-year-old Frey grew despondent over the fear his arm would not recover, and he died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a car in his sister’s garage.”
This story is especially sad, when considering that less than 3 years later, Cincinnati catcher Willard Hershberger would take his own life during the Reds 1940 World Series championship season.
…..
And now for something more cheerful….
…..
That’s all for now.
Expect good news,
Jamie

Hey Jamie, I am trying to listen to the archived Hot Stove report via the link you posted, but when I click play for the Nov 1 episode nothing happens. Is there a link to where I could download the mp3 and save it so I could listen without streaming?
