REDS MINOR LEAGUE NEWS

HEISEY TO REHAB
OF Chris Heisey (strained left oblique) was sent by the Reds to Louisville today to begin a rehab assignment…Heisey has been on the disabled list since 8/7.   

THE MAGIC JUAN
3b Juan Francisco (Louisville) is batting .341 (29-for-85) with 5 HR, 18 RBI, 12 R, .635 SLG, .364 OBP since returning from the disabled list on 8/5 (right knee miniscus)…he was named International League Player of the Week for 8/15-8/22.  

OH HENRY
IF Henry Rodriguez (Carolina) yesterday at Montgomery belted 2 homers, drove in 6 and scored 3 runs…in 125 games split this season between Bakersfield and Carolina, Rodriguez is batting .320 (3rd in the organization) with 13 HR and a .372 on-base pct….his 81 RBIs are tops among all Reds minor leaguers.

NEFTALI-LAMA
1b Neftali Soto (Carolina) yesterday at Montgomery belted his 28th home run of the season…he has 9 games remaining to become the first Reds farmhand to hit 30 or more homers in a single-season since Adam Dunn combined to hit 32 home runs for Chattanooga and Louisville in 2001.

LEHIGH VALLEY (PHILLIES) 4, LOUISVILLE 7: This game contained three bench-clearing incidents…RHP Chad Reineke (8-6) started for Louisville and allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings (1bb, 4k)…RHP Jerry Gil gave up a run on 1 hit and 1 hit-batsman…the Bats scored 7 runs on 11 hits…3b Juan Francisco homered (#15) and was hit by a pitch…CF Denis Phipps (2rbi, 1r), RF Jeremy Hermida (2r, 2rbi), 2b Chris Valaika (2r, 1bb) and LF Danny Dorn (1rbi) had 2 hits each.

CAROLINA 9, MONTGOMERY (RAYS) 12: RHP James Avery (6-12) started for Carolina and was reached for 9 runs (7er) in 2.2 innings…RHP Brandon Hynick pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief (1h, 2bb, 2k)…the Mudcats plated 9 runs on 7 hits…2b Henry Rodriguez (3r) belted 2 home runs and drove in 6…1b Neftali Soto went 2-for-5 with his 28th home run of the season…2b Cody Puckett also went deep (#13).

BAKERSFIELD 6, HIGH DESERT (MARINERS) 7: LHP Matt Fairel (0-4) started for Bakersfield and gave up 5 runs on 8 hits in 4.2 innings (2bb, 3k, 2hr)…the Blaze crossed the plate 6 times on 11 hits…RF Stephen Hunt went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored…DH Chris Richburg (2-for-4) also plated a pair of runs…1b Jorge Jimenez doubled in 3 runs.

WEST MICHIGAN (TIGERS) 4, DAYTON 13: The Dragons scored 6 first-inning runs and didn’t look back…C Chris Berset went 4-for-5 with a double, 3 runs and 2 RBI…C Tucker Barnhart and 3b David Vidal both homered…RF Theo Bowe (3rbi) and SS Billy Hamilton (1r, 1rbi, 0sb) had 3 hits apiece…LHP Tanner Robles (6-9) started for Dayton and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 5.0 innings (5bb, 5k, 1hr).

CASPER (ROCKIES) 3, BILLINGS 11: Billings dented the dish 11 times on 13 hits…3b Junior Arias went 2-for-5 with a double, 1 run and 3 RBI…C Danny Vicioso also drove in 3…DH Ryan Wright went 2-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI…RHP Cole Green (2-1) started for Billings and allowed just 1 run on 4 hits in 5.0 innings (0bb, 5k).

AZL DODGERS 6, AZL REDS 3:RHP Carlos Gonzalez (2-3) started for the Reds and was reached for 5 runs in 4.0 innings…RHP Randall Yard (2ip), RHP Tyree Hayes (2ip) and RHP Carlos Ramos (1ip) combined for 5.0 scoreless innings of relief…the Reds pushed across 3 runs on 7 hits…3b Gabriel Rosa went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI…RF Steven Selsky had 2 hits and 2 runs.
