OF Quintin Berry (Carolina) yesterday vs. Jacksonville went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, extending his hitting streak to 15 games (23-for-60, .383)…Berry has reached base safely in 25 consecutive games dating back to 7/29 (35-for-94, .372, 23 runs, .464 on-base pct.).  


1973: Ken Griffey makes his Major League debut for the Reds at the age of 23…Griffey went 2-for-4 with a double in the Reds 6-4 win over the Cardinals before 50,072 fans at Riverfront Stadium…Griffey would go on to play in parts of 19 seasons in the big leagues…today he’s the manager for the Reds High-A affiliate in Bakersfield…his son also played in the majors.


LEHIGH VALLEY (PHILLIES) 6, LOUISVILLE 5: RHP Daryl Thompson (3-2) started for Louisville and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings (0bb, 4k)…the Bats scored 5 runs on 13 hits (4-for-15 w/RISP)…RF Jeremy Hermida went 3-for-5 with a home run (#16), a double and 2 RBI…CF Denis Phipps added 3 hits and 2 runs scored…2b Chris Valaika went 3-for-5.

JACKSONVILLE (MARLINS) 1, CAROLINA 2: The Mudcats plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth…3b Henry Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles…LF Josh Fellhauer added a pair of hits and an RBI…RHP Pedro Villarreal started for Carolina and was excellent in his 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts…RHP Kyle McCulloch (6-6) earned the win in relief (2ip, 0h, 2k).

BAKERSFIELD 10, RANCHO CUCAMONGA (DODGERS) 12: Both teams combined for 22 runs and 27 hits…RHP Daniel Renken started for Bakersfield and allowed 7 runs (4er) on 10 hits in 5.0 innings (1bb, 2k)…LF Andrew Means (1r) and  2b Brodie Greene (2r, 1rbi) paced the offense with 3 hits apiece…DH Alex Buchholz belted a home run and drove in 2.

DAYTON 3, GREAT LAKES (DODGERS) 9: SS Billy Hamilton went 2-for-5 and stole his 92nd base of the season…C Tucker Barnhart and LF Juan Duran added 2 hits each…LHP Mitch Clarke (3-2) started for Dayton and allowd 6 runs (5er) on 7 hits in 4.1 innings (0bb, 3k).

IDAHO FALLS (ROYALS) 9, BILLINGS 13: Idaho Falls scored 5 first inning runs off Billings starter RHP Kyle McMyne (0.2ip, 4h, 5r, 4bb, 1k) but the Mustangs rallied for 13 runs on 13 hits to win it…C Yovan Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a home run and 5 RBI…3b Junior Arias (3-for-4, 4r) also homered…2b Ryan Wright went 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. 

AZL DODGERS 6, AZL REDS 7: RHP Justice French started for the Reds and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.0 innings (1bb, 5k)…3b Gabriel Rosa paced the offense with 3 hits (1r)…LF Brennan “Lil” May belted a 2-run homer.
