RHP Edinson Volquez (Louisville) last night vs. Indianapolis was the tough-luck loser after allowing 3 runs (1er) in 7.0 innings…in 7 outings since being optioned to Louisville last month, Volquez has recorded 5 quality starts and allowed 11 earned runs over 46 innings (2.15era, 15bb, 41k, .214 opponents average).  

In 14 games for Carolina since being acquired from Washington in the Jonny Gomes trade, OF/1b Bill Rhinehart  is batting .327 with 3 HR, 11 RBI and a .571 slugging percentage.      

OF Juan Duran (Dayton) last night vs West Michigan belted his second 3-run homer in as many games…Duran has 3 home runs over his last 7 games.


INDIANAPOLIS (PIRATES) 3, LOUISVILLE 2: RHP Edinson Volquez (2-1) started for Louisville and gave up 3 runs (1er) on 7 hits in 7.0 innings (3bb, 8k)…the Bats managed 2 runs on 6 hits…C Devin Mesoraco belted his 13th home run.

MONTGOMERY (RAYS) 12, CAROLINA 7: RHP Josh Ravin started for Carolina and was reached for 4 runs in 5.0 innings (3h, 4bb, 3k)…RHP Kyle McCulloch (5-6) gave up 5 runs in 0.2 innings of relief (3h, 2bb, 2hr)…the Mudcats crossed the plate 7 times on 9 hits…DH Henry Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, a walk, RBI and a run scored…LF Cody Puckett belted a 2-run homer.

BAKERSFIELD 2, RANCHO CUCAMONGA (DODGERS) 5: RHP J.C. Sulbaran (8-4) started for Bakersfield and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 6.0 innings (1bb, 4k)…the Blaze plated their only 2 runs in the first inning…CF Ryan LaMarre went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

DAYTON 5, WEST MICHIGAN (TIGERS) 10: RHP Josh Smith (10-7) gave up 5 runs (4er) in 3.0 innings (5h, 4bb, 4k, 1hr)…LHP Luca Panerati was reached for 5 runs in 3.2 innings of relief…the Dragons plated 5 runs on 6 hits…LF Juan Duran belted a 3-run homer…SS Billy Hamilton went 1-for-5 with a run and a stolen base (#79).

GREAT FALLS (WSOX) 4, BILLINGS 5: Billings scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth…C Nick O’Shea, DH Juan Silva and SS Cristobal Rodriguez paced the offense with 2 hits each…1b Robert Maddox drove in 2…RHP Kyle McMyne started for the Mustangs and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 3.0 innings (1bb, 3k)…RHP Porfirio Martinez (1-0) earned the win in relief (0.1ip, 1k).
