New baseball fields to be built in Winton Place and North College Hill

CINCINNATI (August 10, 2011) — The Reds Community Fund and P&G are partnering for two community service projects on Thursday, August 11 in Winton Place and North College Hill.

At the site of Clark/Gamble Montessori School in Winton Place, a new field designed for youth baseball will be dedicated at 3 p.m.

In North College Hill a new high school baseball field will be completed on the site of the former Becker Elementary School. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The new field will be the home to the North College Hill Trojans high school baseball team.

Jodi L. Allen, Vice President of P&G U.S. Operations and Marketing, North America and Phil Castellini, Reds Chief Operating Officer are scheduled to attend both dedications. Cincinnati Public Schools superintendent Mary Ronan will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony at Clark/Gamble.

Hundreds of volunteers from P&G North America Marketing, along with Reds Community Fund staff and board members, will participate in the day-long volunteer project starting at 9 a.m. By the end of the day, the volunteer teams will have completed the installation of new pitchers mounds, batters boxes, dugout benches, backstop fencing and bases.

Cincinnati Public School’s Clark/Gamble Montessori is the current home of the Reds Community Fund’s Urban Youth Academy and Brandon Phillips Field as well as a training facility for the Cincinnati RBI teams. Last summer, P&G volunteers and the Reds Community Fund completed “P&G Field” on the Clark/Gamble campus, which now serves as the home of the RBI Girls’ Softball program.

The project is funded by P&G and the Reds Community Fund.
