Last night in Helena, the Billings Mustangs recorded their third straight shutout and haven’t allowed a run since the fifth inning of Saturday’s game at Great Falls – a span of 30 consecutive scoreless innings.
LHP Matt Fairel (Bakersfield) yesterday at San Jose pitched 6.0 shutout innings, scattering 7 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts…For Fairel, it was his best start of the season and his best outing since before having shoulder surgery last July.

OF Ryan LaMarre (Bakersfield) over his last 13 games is batting .347 (17-for-49, 11r)…LaMarre has 41 stolen bases on the season.
COLUMBUS (INDIANS) 2, LOUISVILLE 5: LHP Matt Maloney (rehabbing rib cage) started for Louisville and was solid in his 6.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts (1hr)…LHP Jeremy Horst fanned 3 in 1.2 perfect innings of relief…the Bats scored 5 runs on 8 hits…RF Jeremy Hermida (2-for-4, 2r) belted his 14th home run, a solo shot that landed in the parking lot of Donut Kastle on Lyndon Lane, knocking a French Crueller out of the hands of a hungry patron.
CAROLINA 4, MISSISSIPPI (BRAVES) 3: RHP Curtis Partch (1-0) started for Carolina and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.2 innings (0bb, 5k)…the Mudcats plated 4 runs on 6 hits…SS Henry Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with an RBI…LF Cody Puckett drove in 2.
BAKERSFIELD 3, SAN JOSE (GIANTS) 0: LHP Matt Fairel was outstanding in his 6.0 shutout innings, scattering 7 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts…LHP Mace Thurman (4-3) picked up the win in relief (2ip, 1h, 1k)…the Blaze scored all 3 of their runs in the 8th…CF Ryan LaMarre, LF Josh Fellhauer, 2b Brodie Greene (2rbi) and 1b Stephen Hunt (1rbi) paced the offense with 2 hits each.
DAYTON AT LAKE COUNTY (INDIANS): Dayton and Lake County were suspended by rain in Eastlake, Ohio with Dayton leading 2-0 at the end of three innings. The game will resume in Dayton on either Saturday or Sunday.
BILLINGS 2, HELENA (BREWERS) 0: LHP Tony Cingrani started for Billings and gave up just 1 hit in 4.0 shutout innings (0bb, 6k)…RHP Cole Green (1-1) earned the win in relief (3ip, 1h, 1bb, 1k)…the Mustangs pushed across a pair of runs on 7 hits…1b Nick O’Shea belted his 7th home run…DH Junior Arias went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
AZL PADRES 7, AZL REDS 6: RHP Carlos Gonzalez (1-2) started for the Reds and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5.0 innings (1bb, 5k, 1hr)…the Redlegs crossed the plate 3 times on 6 hits…3b Gabriel Rosa went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
