LHP Dontrelle Willis (Louisville) last night vs Toledo earned his fourth victory by allowing just 1 run over 7.0 innings (3h, 0bb, 7k, 100TP/66K)…it marked his fifth quality start of the season and his second in a row…overall this season, Willis is 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 11 starts (61ip, 17er, 19bb, 54k, .247 opponents average).   

Four of the top 10 hitters in the International League are Louisville Bats, including league leader Jeremy Hermida (.352), Devin Mesoraco (6th, .323), Zack Cozart (7th, .317) and Yonder Alonso (8th, .316).

C Yasmani Grandal (Bakersfield) over his last 12 games has gone 16-for-41 (.390) to lift his batting avg. from .278 to .295 and his slugging pct. from .488 to .510.


TOLEDO (TIGERS) 2, LOUISVILLE 4: LHP Dontrelle Willis (4-2) started for Louisville and allowed a run on 3 hits in 7.0 innings (0bb, 7k)…the Bats scored 4 runs on 9 hits…CF Dave Sappelt went 2-for-4 with a run scored…2b Chris Valaika added pair of hits, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

CAROLINA MUDCATS: The Mudcats were off yesterday enjoying the All-Star break…the Southern League All-Star Game takes place tomorrow night in Jackson, TN…RHP Brad Boxberger is the lone Mudcats All-Star.

BAKERSFIELD 2, VISALIA (D’BACKS) 3: RHP Josh Ravin started for Bakersfield and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 5.0 innings (4bb, 7k, 1hr)…RHP Tim Crabbe (1-3) suffered the loss in relief (3.2ip, 2h, 1r, 1bb, 6k)…the Blaze went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring postion (13 LOB)…2b Brodie Greene (1r, 1bb), CF Ryan LaMarre (1bb) and RF Andrew Means (1rbi, 1bb) each had 2 hits.

LANSING (BLUE JAYS) 8, DAYTON 2: RHP Kyle Lotzkar (0-1) started for Dayton and was reached for 7 runs on 6 hits on 4.0 innings (2bb, 0k, 3hr)…the Dragons pushed across a pair of runs on 6 hits…2b Ronald Torreyes and RF Yorman Rodriguez (2rbi, 1r) paced the offense with 2 hits apiece.

BILLINGS MUSTANGS: The Billings Mustangs today will begin their 38th season as a Reds minor league affiliate…This year Pat Kelly takes over the reigns as the Mustangs skipper after managing Lynchburg in 2010…Kelly will be joined by pitching coach Bob Forsch and hitting coach Eli Marrero.

AZL REDS: The AZL Reds today will begin their second season as a Cincinnati minor league affiliate…Jose Miguel Nieves will manage the Reds and be joined by pitching coach Tom Browning, hitting coach Jorge Orta and coach Ray Martinez.
