COSTANZO WINS WEEKLY AWARD
IF Mike Costanzo (Carolina) yesterday was named Southern League Player of the Week for 6/6-6/12…in 6 games for the week, Costanzo batted .435 (10-for-23) with 3 home runs and  6 runs scored.    

LOTZKAR DEBUTS
RHP Kyle Lotzkar is scheduled to make his season debut today as he toes the rubber for Dayton in the second game of the Dragons’ doubleheader at Ft. Wayne…Lotzkar, 21, entered 2011 rated the 10th-best prospect in the Reds system, according to Baseball America…he was also recognized by that publication as having the best curveball and best control in the Reds organization.

LIVIN’ HERMIDA LOCA  
OF Jeremy Hermida (Louisville) has reached base safely in 21 consecutive games dating back to 5/21…during that stretch, he’s batting .400 (32-for-80) with a .473 on-base pct…Hermida currently leads the International League with a .361 batting average (60-for-166).

BOXBERGER DOMINATING
RHP Brad Boxberger (Carolina) has allowed just 4 runs over 30.0 innings pitched this season (1.20era, 50k, .140oba).

LOUISVILLE 8, LEHIGH VALLEY (PHILLIES) 7: Louisville held on to win despite a 2-run rally in the bottom of the 9th by Lehigh Valley…LHP Tom Cochran started for Louisville and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings (5bb, 5k)…RHP David Johnson (4-1) earned the win in relief (1.2ip, 3h, 2r/1er, 0bb, 1hr)…the Bats scored 8 runs on 16 hits…SS Zack Cozart went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 walks…3b Juan Francisco (3-for-5, 2r) blasted his 5th home run and drove in 4 runs.

TENNESSEE (CUBS) 1, CAROLINA 2: RHP Tim Gustafson (1-6) started for Carolina and suffered the hard-luck loss, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings (2bb, 3k)…the Mudcats pushed across 1 run on 6 hits…SS Henry Rodriguez and 1b Neftali Soto collected 2 hits apiece.

BAKERSFIELD 0, SAN JOSE (GIANTS) 6: RHP Lance Janke (4-5) started for Bakersfield and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 9k)…the Blaze were blanked on 7 hits.

DAYTON DRAGONS: The Dragons were off yesterday celebrating the 486th wedding anniversary of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora.
