REDS MINOR LEAGUE NEWS

FIRE-BREATHING DRAGONS
With last night’s victory over West Michigan, the Dayton Dragons have won 9 of their last 10 games, including their first-ever sweep of the Whitecaps in Dayton in the 12-year history of the Dragons’ franchise…tonight’s Dayton Dragons game will be televised locally on WHIO digital channel 7.2 (channel 23 on most area Time Warner Cable systems)…former Reds first baseman and Dragons’ manager Todd Benzinger will provide commentary with play-by-play ninja Tom Nichols.    

COSTANZO STREAKING
1b Mike Costanzo (Carolina) is currently working on a 10-game hitting streak in which he’s batting .371 (13-for-35, 2hr, 7rbi, 8r, .463 on-base percentage).

FELLHAUER BLOOMING
OF Josh Fellhauer (Bakersfield) has a 14-game hitting streak (24-for-61, .393, 8r, 8 doubles, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 7bb, .456 OBP)…it’s the longest current active hitting streak in the California League…Fellhauer has also reached base safely in 19 straight games.

GAME REPORTS

LOUISVILLE BATS: The Bats were rained out last night vs Durham…they’ll make it up tonight as part of a doubleheader.

CHATTANOOGA (DODGERS) 5, CAROLINA 1: RHP Matt Klinker (0-1) started for Carolina and was solid in his 6.0 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts…the Mudcats mustered 1 run on 5 hits…1b Mike Costanzo paced the offense with with 2 hits…OF David Cook blasted a home run that landed in Roy Williams’ swimming pool.

VISALIA (D’BACKS) 10, BAKERSFIELD 7: A 6-run ninth inning for Visalia doomed Bakersfield…RHP Lance Janke started for the Blaze and allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings (2bb, 8k, 1hr)…LHP Andrew Bowman (1-1) suffered the loss (0.0ip, 1h, 4r/3er, 1bb, 1k)…RHP Doug Salinas blew the save (1ip, 3h, 2r/2er)…Bakersfield dented the dish 7 times on 11 hits…Both LF Josh Fellhauer (HR, 5 RBI, 1bb) and RF Stephen Hunt (RBI) had 3 hits apiece.

WEST MICHIGAN (TIGERS) 2, DAYTON 6:  The Dragons continue to roll…RHP Daniel Tuttle (2-0) started and was superb in his 6.0 innings, allowing 2 runs (1er) on 5 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts…RHP Tim Crabbe pitched 3.0 perfect innings for the save (6k)…Dayton scored 6 runs on 5 hits…CF Yorman Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer.
