LHP Dontrelle Willis (Louisville) continues to pitch well for the Bats…last night at Toledo he allowed 3 runs (2er) over 7.0 innings…in 4 starts, Willis is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA (24ip, 4r/3er, 7bb, 19k, .227oba).    

OF Stephen Hunt (Bakersfield) yesterday was named the California League Player of the Week for 4/18-4/24…in 4 games, Hunt went 9-for-16 with 3 HR and 13 RBI…the 22 year-old from the University of South Florida was the Reds’ 15th round selection in the 2010 draft.

2b Cody Puckett (Carolina) last night vs Chattanooga belted 2 home runs in a game for the second time this season (also did it on 4/16 at Huntsville)…in 18 games this year, Puckett is batting .358 with 5 HR, 16 RBI and a .736 slugging pct.

C Yasmani Grandal (Bakersfield) last night vs Visalia was walked 5 times…in 14 games this season, Grandal is hitting .333 with 5 HR, 11 RBI, 15 runs and a 1.250 OPS…he’s played primarily behind the plate but has also made 2 starts as a DH. 


LOUISVILLE 5, TOLEDO (TIGERS) 6: LHP Dontrelle Willis started for Louisville and gave up 3 runs (2er) on 6 hits in 7.0 innings (2bb, 4k)…LHP Daniel Ray Herrera (0-2) suffered the loss in relief (1ip, 2h, 3r/0er, 1bb, 1k)…the Bats scored 5 runs on 10 hits…RF Fred Lewis (rehabbing strained right oblique) led off and went 1-for-5 with a run and 2 strikeouts…CF Dave Sappelt (2-for-3, 1rbi, 1bb) and C Devin Mesoraco (2-for-3, 2r, 1bb) had 2 hits apiece…1b Danny Dorn homered.

CHATTANOOGA (DODGERS) 4, CAROLINA 6: RHP James Avery (1-3) started for Carolina and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 6.0 innings (3bb, 2k)…the Mudcats scored 6 runs on 9 hits…2b Cody Puckett blasted 2 home runs and drove in 4…1b Mike Costanzo collected 3 hits, including a double (2r, 2rbi).

VISALIA (D’BACKS) 9, BAKERSFIELD 3: RHP Curtis Partch (0-3) started for Bakersfield and was reached for 8 runs (5er) on 9 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 4k, 2hr)…the Blaze crossed the plate 3 times on 3 hits…C Yasmani Grandal was issued 5 walks…LF Josh Fellhauer went 1-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI.

WEST MICHIGAN (TIGERS) 1, DAYTON 3: RHP Daniel Corcino (2-2) started for Dayton and was brilliant in his 5.0 innings, allowing just 1 run (0er) on 6 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 7k)…LHP Blaine Howell notched his 4th save (1ip, 1bb)…the Dragons scored 3 runs on 4 hits…LF Juan Duran blasted a 2-run homer in the 4th…CF Yorman Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
