MINOR LEAGUE NEWS

BAILEY SHINES IN REHAB START
RHP Homer Bailey, who is currently on Cincinnati’s 15-day disabled list with right shoulder impingement, made a rehab start yesterday for Louisville vs Indianapolis…Bailey needed 62 pitches to spin 5.0 shutout innings (2h, 1bb, 2k).

LIVIN’ HERMIDA LOCA
Louisville’s Jeremy Hermida is off to a fast start for the Bats, hitting safely in 7 of his 10 games (11-for-33, .333) with 2 homers, 9 RBI and 9 runs scored…Hermida is slugging at a .606 clip and is batting righties .571 (8-for-14)….he’s made 9 starts in right field (1 PH).

MAN OF STEAL
Dayton’s Billy Hamilton swiped 2 more bags yesterday to give him a Midwest League-leading 11 stolen bases in 11 games…Fresno’s Emmanuel Burriss leads the minors with 13 steals (11g)…Hamilton ranks 2nd, 1 ahead of San Jose’s Gary Brown.

INDIANAPOLIS (PIRATES) 4, LOUISVILLE 6: RF Brian Barton blasted a 2-run walkoff homer in the 13th inning to win it for Louisville…RHP Homer Bailey (rehabbing right shoulder impingement) started for the Bats and was brilliant in his 5.0 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk while fanning 2 (62TP/40k)…LHP Daniel Ray Herrera pitched 2.0 scoreless innings of relief…LHP Tom Cochran (2-0) earned the victory (3.1ip, 1h, 0r, 1bb, 1k)…2b Kris Negron went 3-for-5 with a double, walk and 2 runs scored…RF Jeremy Hermida went 1-for-4 with a 3-run double.

CAROLINA 3, HUNTSVILLE (BREWERS) 4: The Mudcats nearly rallied from a 4-run deficit to win it, but they went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 en route to their 5th straight defeat…CF Fred Lewis (rehabbing strained right oblique) went 1-for-4 with a run and played a solid center field…LF Felix Perez, 3b Jake Kahaulelio, RF Denis Phipps and 2b Jose Castro had 2 hits each…LHP Travis Webb (0-2) started for Carolina and was reached for 4 runs on 4 hits in 4.0 innings (5bb, 5k, 1hr). 

MODESTO (ROCKIES) 3, BAKERSFIELD 4: A day after the 4-hour and 55-minute donnybrook with Inland Empire, the Blaze took care of Modesto in a comfortable 2-hour and 45-minute contest…With the score tied at 3 in the bottom of the 8th, DH Yasmani Grandal (3-for-4, 2r, 2rbi) belted his second home run of the season to win it…RHP Josh Ravin started for Bakersfield and was excellent in his 6.1 innings, allowing just 1 run (1hr) on 2 hits with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts…RHP Ryan Smith (1-0) picked up the win in relief (1.2ip, 1bb, 2k).
