The Reds’ game today vs the Indians wasn’t the prettiest tilt I’ve ever seen, but thankfully these games don’t count towards the regular season record.
After 3 hours and 19 minutes, 5 errors, no runs and no hits with runners in scoring position, our beloved Redlegs fell to the dreaded Cleveland club, 12-0.
Birthday boys Aroldis Chapman and Neftali Soto made appearances in today’s contest. Chapman was a little wild in his scoreless inning of work, walking 3 while fanning 2. Soto was a defensive replacement at first base and went 1-for-2.
Dave Sappelt had 2 more hits today and is looking pretty good in the (very) early stages of the spring season.
Minor league catcher Tucker Barnhart made it into the game and ripped a single in his only at-bat. It’s probably safe to say he’ll remember that moment forever.
Chris Heisey, Jeremy Hermida, Yonder Alonso and Devin Mesoraco accounted for the other Reds hits.
On the mound, Bronson Arroyo started and suffered the loss (2ip, 1h, 1r, 2k, 1hr). Francisco Cordero (1ip, 2h, 1er, 1bb, 2k), Dontrelle Willis (1ip, 2h, 2r/0er, 1bb, 2k), Nick Masset (0.1ip, 3h, 4r/3er, 1bb) and Chad Reineke (2ip, 4h, 4r/3er, 2bb, 2k, 1hr) allowed runs in relief.
Tomorrow is a split-squad day for the Redlegs. Half the club heads to Phoenix to battle the dreaded A’s while the other half heads to Tempe to take on the dastardly Angels. The Reds/Angels game will be shown on MLB Network at 3:05pm ET.
I wish I had some photos for you but unfortunately the MLBlogs network is currently in transition as it will soon turn over to a new format. In the meantime, I’m not capable of posting pictures.
I’m told the new blog platform will be well worth the current inconvenience, so be sure to keep your eye out for a new and improved Better Off Red coming soon.
That’s all for now!
I’ll be back tomorrow blogging and Tweeting from the Reds/A’s game in Phoenix.
Expect good news,
