PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT
It’s the day many of you have been waiting for, the day Reds pitchers and catchers officially report to the Spring Training complex here in Goodyear, Arizona.
Reds players and personnel underwent physical examinations this morning to kick off the day. At one point, the Reds facility looked very much like a hospital. It was kind of weird.
Following physicals, Reds manager Dusty Baker met with the Reds beat writers in the first of what will approximately be 200 such meetings with the scribes over the course of the 2011 season.
The writers meeting was followed by the first Reds “team” meeting in the clubhouse. The meeting was basically designed to introduce the staff with the players and get reacquainted with the facility here in Goodyear.
Dusty, Bryan Price and Mark Berry addressed the group and touched upon several topics, including what’s expected this spring from the pitchers (work hard, etc). I’m not at liberty to go into specifics of the meeting, but it was pretty solid and to the point.
I can say that this organization is pretty lucky to have Bryan Price.
Once the team meeting wrapped up, it was time to take the field for the first official workout. Enjoy the photos…
Here’s today’s Reds Spring Training Notebook, courtesy of Reds Director of Media Relations, Rob Butcher:
TODAY’S NEWS: Pitchers and catchers reported today and worked out for the first time.
PARTNERSHIP: The Reds and PNC Bank today announced a 5-year partnership that makes PNC the exclusive and official bank, financial advisor, trust and mortgage banker, investment management and brokerage service provider of the club.

Great work! Thanks, Jamie . . .
Thanks Jamie. Looks like four notebooks in there with Dusty. I recognize McCoy, Sheldon, and Fay. Whose the fourth?
Not sure I’m diggin’ those new spring training tops yet. They’re different, that’s for sure.
I am loving the pictures and updates. I am so ready for the season to start
Mike Leake! I hardly recognized him without the hair! Bronson’s is full and fabulous as usual, but the highlights could use a touch up. And Corky Miller’s ‘stache is a thing of beauty.
Sorry, I have no idea why I fixated on hair while viewing these, but there we are. WHOO!! Spring Training! Happy Baseball New Year, everyone!
Love the photos, Jamie. I know you’ve probably answered this question before but can I ask you what camera you’re using?
