TODAY’S NEWS: Reds farmhand SS Didi Gregorius, 19, received the Australian Baseball League’s Gold Glove as its best defensive player this winter…the Amsterdam native previously was named the outstanding defensive player at the IBAF Intercontinental Cup in October, while his throwing arm was rated by Baseball America as the best among all Midwest League infielders.
TREK COMPLETE: Yesterday morning the truck arrived at the Reds Player Development Complex in Goodyear, Arizona after its 1,897-mile, 2-day journey.
SPRING TRAINING: Pitchers and catchers report to the Reds’ Player Development Complex in Goodyear, Arizona on Wednesday…after physical examinations, they will work out later that afternoon…position players will report Saturday, 2/19 and following physicals will work out that afternoon…fourth-year manager Dusty Baker’s coaching staff is scheduled to report Tuesday…minor league pitchers and catchers report March 4 and position players March 8.
SPRING ROSTER: The Reds’ spring training rosters are attached…camp includes 54 players overall, 28 pitchers, 6 catchers, 12 infielders, 8 outfielders and 14 non-roster invitees…most recently, the club invited to Major League camp 59 (2010), 63 (2009), 65 (2008), 58 (2007), 63 (2006), 55 (2005), 56 (2004), 64 (2003), 70 (2002), 58 (2001), 72 (2000), 54 (1999), 51 (1998), 55 (1997) and 59 (1996) players.
