KIKKAN RANDALL: REDS FAN
Kikkan Randall is a cross-country skiier who participated in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, finishing 8th in the women’s sprint – the highest finish ever in that event by an American. In 2009, Randall earned the silver medal in the women’s sprint world championship and finished 9th in the same event during the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Why am I blogging about the “Kikkanimal?” Because she’s literally a member of the Reds family. Kikkan is the niece of Billings’ manager Pat Kelly, who also served as Reds bench coach for a spell in 2007.
Pat sent me the following email…
Jamie….This is my niece Kikkan Randall training in Europe for the Nordic World Cup races this winter. She has won 2 medals already this winter (1st American women ever to win a medal). She’s pointing towards the Nordic World Championship’s in Oslo, Norway in February. She lives in Anchorage, Alaska….PK
