That’s right, South Carolina…YOU’RE UP!!

If you’re a Reds fan from the Palmetto State, prove it by emailing me (jramsey@reds.com) the photographic evidence.  You have until Sunday at midnight to be counted!

When we left off last time, it was California’s moment in the sun.  The Golden State came through with 5 submissions.  Let’s take a look….

California.JPGHello Jamie, here are a few photos of a proud Reds fan in southern California. My car and pictures of my daughter Juliana and me at this years all-star game.  I hope to meet you at Redsfest this year.  Take care and go Reds… Anthony Esquivel, Stanton, Ca.

No jerseys for me, just a few hats. My 13 year old daughter and I watch every Reds game on the MLB package & go to San Francisco when the Reds come to town. We live 2 hrs away in Carmel California. I’ve been a Reds fan since 1970. – “marcrede”

Jamie,
Love the site!  I thought I’d do my part and send in a couple pics from a couple of California Reds fans.

Attached is a picture of myself in a Billings Mustangs cap at the base of Mt. Whitney (the tallest mountain in the lower 48).  Mt. Whitney is a part of Sierra Nevada Mtn. Range, and luckily for me, it’s also the view from my backyard.  I’ve also attached a pic of my friend Phoebe with a Mr. Redlegs cap overlooking Owens Lake, which is mostly a dry lake-bed now, since all incoming water is diverted to L.A.s never-quenching thirst.  Beyond Owens Lake are the peaks of Death Valley National Park, which basically is the view from our backyard.  Great scenary here in Eastern California, so long as you can deal with the remote location, dry weather, and seismic activity.

We get back to Cincy for games when we can, but we mostly love travelling to see the minor league affilates.  Although we haven’t heard great things about Bakersfield, we’re excited about the high-A team’s move there, as we will likely get to see many of the Blaze’s games.  Right now, though, we are both counting down the days til spring training; the best bang for a fan’s buck, IMO.  Maybe we’ll see you in Goodyear come spring.

Go Reds!
Cheers,
Jason and Phoebe

Hi Jamie,

Woohoo, it’s finally Cali’s turn to show their Red pride!  I’ve attached a photo of myself, Amy, Angela, and my friend Karen from before the Sunday Reds-Padres game in September.  Without BOR I wouldn’t have met such great Reds fans, and hopefully they enjoyed visiting Cali as much as I enjoy living here- and of course, being a Reds fan!

And although they didn’t submit a photo, Steve and Sue Mixsell of San Jose, CA wanted to check in as well.

…..

Thanks California!  Way to represent!

Let’s take a look at the leaderboard, shall we?

BOR Fit Club Update:

I’m making little to no progress in my quest to lose 35 pounds by February 1.  It’s frustrating, but I know that I can still do it.  I’ve realized since starting this campaign that there are many personal factors that can sabotage one’s journey to a healthy lifestyle.  I’m not brave enough to share all of those things with you yet but maybe someday…

In the meantime, I’m making a commitment to bust my butt this week.  Lots of cardio, lots of weight lifting, 2 nights of yoga, and no junk food!  That should get me back on track!

I’m dedicating my workout today to Twitter follower @KarenCincyFollow her and see what she’s doing to lead a healthier lifestyle!

If you’d like me to dedicate one of my workouts to you, simply follow me on Twitter at Jamieblog and keep an eye on the hashtag #BORFitClub.

Congratulations to the Louisville Bats, the Reds AAA affiliate, for being named the recipients of the 2010 Bob Freitas Award for “Organization of the Year” at the Triple-A level.

Quite an accomplishment and very well-deserved!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I’ve been asked to deliver a presentation at the Winter Meetings in regards to team blogs.  Any help in the form of feedback/quotes that you the readers can provide, would be very much appreciated!

Check back later today to see what Better Off Red has lined up for Redsfest this weekend!

Thanks for logging on, folks!  I really, REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks for this great blog!
Here’s my .02 cents about team blogs: yours is so successful because of the interaction that is really personal. That’s number one. Number two point would be that you offer “behind the scenes” access that folks wouldn’t ordinarily experience, like the great batting practice pics. I love this blog because it is not just an article and answer-the-mailbag standard. I grew up in Cincy with the Machine, an have lived away ever since. Your blog has brought me back into being a full-time, full-blown fan again, buying Reds merch and so on. So kudos to you, and break a leg!
