THE MAIN SPARK
I learned late yesterday afternoon that Hall of Famer Sparky Anderson has been placed in the care of hospice at his home in California.
The following is a statement regarding Anderson from Reds CEO Bob Castellini:
“We are very sad to hear the news of Sparky’s failing health. Every day here we are reminded of his contribution to the success of this proud franchise. The Reds’ family offers its prayers and support to Sparky and his family during this difficult time.”

Take care Sparky. It seems like it was just yesterday when he was leading the BRM. If the Reds haven’t, they need to dedicate the practice fields down in Goodyear to former managers or players. The A’s did this. I get a chuckle out of seeing the Tony LaRussa field everytime I walk by it.
God Bless Sparky. It brings tears to my eyes that the greatest person to the Cincinnati Reds or to baseball, is coming to an end. You will always be in our hearts, Sparky. We would love to see a miracle about now. We wish you the best.
