LOUISVILLE 1, TOLEDO (TIGERS) 4: LHP Matt Maloney started for Louisville and gave up a run on 4 hits in 3.0 innings (0bb, 3k)…RHP Enerio Del Rosario (4-4) suffered the loss in relief (3.1ip, 3h, 2r, 1bb, 2hr)…RF Danny Dorn provided the Bats’ lone run with his 12th homer.
CAROLINA 9, BIRMINGHAM (WSOX) 4: RHP James Avery (2-3) started for Carolina and allowed 4 runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings (1bb, 2k, 1hr)…RHP Brad Boxberger fired 2.0 scoreless innings of relief (2h, 2k)…the Mudcats dented the dish 9 times on 11 hits…C Chris Denove went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored…2b Jake Kahaulelio belted a 3-run homer into the Birmingham Public Library where a puppet show featuring “Lenny the Leprous Lion” was taking place (no one was hurt).
LYNCHBURG 0, WINSTON-SALEM 6: The Hillcats were blanked on 4 hits…RHP Pedro Villareal (0-2) started for Lynchburg and was reached for 6 runs on 5 hits in 3.0 innings (1bb, 1k, 2hr)…LHP Ezequiel Infante (3ip, 4h) and RHP Doug Salinas (2ip, 1k) combined for 5.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
DAYTON 12, LANSING (BLUE JAYS) 0: The Dragons won their 3rd straight series and have won 9 of their last 11 games…RHP Ricky Bowen (5-8) started for Dayton and was brilliant in his 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts…the Dragons scored 12 runs on 13 hits…DH Mark Fleury went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and a run scored…SS Henry Rodriguez had 3 hits, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored…2b Kevyn Feiner went 3-for-6 with a run and an RBI.

BILLINGS 2, HELENA (BREWERS) 3: The Mustangs split a doubleheader with Helena (Brewers)….the first game was the continuation of a suspended game from earlier in August…in the second game, LHP Tanner Robles started for Billings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 5k)….RHP Kevin Arico fired 3.0 scoreless innings of relief (1h, 3k)…RHP Drew Hayes (1-2) suffered the loss (1.2ip, 1h, 1r, 2bb, 2k)…RF Yorman Rodriguez paced the offense with 2 hits, including a triple, RBI and a run scored.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE
The Arizona Fall League yesterday announced its rosters for the 2010 season, featuring players from all 30 organizations in Major League Baseball…7 players from the Reds system have been selected to play for the Peoria Saguaros: RHP James Avery (Carolina), LHP Jeremy Horst (Louisville), LHP Philippe Valiquette (Louisville), C Devin Mesoraco (Louisville), IF Kris Negron (Louisville), OF Dave Sappelt (Louisville) and a player to be announced later…Carolina trainer Jimmy Mattocks will serve in the same role for the Saguaros.
AZ REDS FALL SHORT
The Arizona Summer League Reds lost the league’s championship game last night to the AZL Brewers…the Reds finish their inaugural season with a 31-24 record, marking just the second time since 2001 that the organization’s lower-Rookie level club posted a winning mark (GCL Reds, 28-27 in 2008).
