REDS TO CELEBRATE HIT 4,192
25th Anniversary Of Pete Rose’s Milestone

CINCINNATI – Prior to their 7:10 p.m. game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, September 11 the Cincinnati Reds will recognize the 25th anniversary of Pete Rose’s 4,192nd career hit.

The celebration at Great American Ball Park will include an appearance by Rose and video highlights of the events surrounding one of Major League Baseball’s most historic moments.

Expected to attend the pre-game ceremonies are former teammates Tony Perez and Cesar Geronimo.

Pete and his family also will attend the afternoon game on Sunday, September 12.

At Riverfront Stadium on September 11, 1985 Rose singled to left center field off San Diego Padres pitcher Eric Show to pass Hall of Famer Ty Cobb and become Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader.

The Cincinnati native finished his career with 4,256 hits over 24 seasons for the Reds, Phillies and Expos.

Free Pete Rose

I want to thank MLB for allowing Pete Rose to be honored last night at the Reds game 9/11/10. It was really neat to be part of it & the Reds did a wonderful job. I was there 25 yrs. ago & happened to be in Philly when he got his 4000 hit. He knows he did wrong we all know he did wrong but I think it is time to re-instate him. I read the paper this morning & some man in Calf. killed 5 people & he served his time & is being released this month. Pete bet on baseball not nearly as bad as murder but he is still being punished & we free a murderer? Life is to short I think it is time we put Pete in the Hall of Fame where he belongs. Look at some of the other one’s in there I am sure if we looked into their closets there would be things that would knock them out. Like I said what he did was wrong but in my eyes drug abuse is far worse. Please lets put Pete where he belongs…In The Hall of Fame.
