Lynchburg’s Cody Puckett yesterday at Wilmington homered in his fourth consecutive game…in 115 games this season, the Hillcats’ second baseman is batting .273 with 17 HR and 51 RBI…he ranks among all Carolina League leaders in doubles (2nd, 39), extra-base hits (2nd, 60), slugging (4th, .500), total bases (4th, 216) and homers (4th, 17).   

Carolina’s Kris Negron is currently riding a 19-game hitting streak (.405, 30-for-74, .471obp). 

The Cincinnati Reds and Carolina Mudcats on Saturday extended their Double-A player development contract through the 2012 Southern League season.

Louisville’s Aroldis Chapman is 3-0 over his 18 appearances with seven saves and a 0.92 ERA over 19.2 innings (10h, 7bb, 30k)…he’s allowed just 4 hits in his last 12 appearances…prior to moving to the bullpen, Chapman went 5-5 with a 4.11 ERA in 13 starts…he’s 3-1 with 7 saves and a 2.57 ERA in 24 appearances out of the pen.
