LOUISVILLE 10, TOLEDO (TIGERS) 4: The Bats have won 8 straight…RHP Chad Reineke (9-7) started for Louisville and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 5k, 1hr)…LHP Jeremy Horst fired 2.0 scoreless innings of relief (2h, 1bb)…the Bats scored 10 runs on 17 hits (7-for-18 w/RISP)…2b Chris Valaika (2r, 3rbi) and RF Wladimir Balentien (3r) paced the offense with 4 hits apiece…CF Dave Sappelt made his Triple-A debut and collected 2 hits and a walk…3b Eric Eymann belted a home run and drove in 4.

CAROLINA 5, JACKSONVILLE (MARLINS) 8: LHP Travis Webb (6-8) started for Carolina and was reached for 6 runs on 7 hits in 4.1 innings (4bb, 4k, 2hr)…the Mudcats scored 5 runs on 11 hits (1-for-11 w/RISP, 9 LOB)…SS Kris Negron went 2-for-4 with his 10th home run…RF Denis Phipps (3rbi) also hit one over the fence (#3).

LYNCHBURG AT POTOMAC (NATIONALS): Lynchburg was rained out at Potomac…the game will not be rescheduled.

LANSING (BLUE JAYS) 10, DAYTON 3: The Dragons dropped their 6th straight…RHP Clayton Shunick (0-1) started for Dayton and allowed 4 runs (3er) on 8 hits in 5.1 innings (2bb, 5k, 1hr)…the Dragons scored 3 runs on 7 hits…3b Frank Pfister went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI…SS Didi Gregorius connected for his 5th home run.

BILLINGS 14, GREAT FALLS (WSOX) 2: The Mustangs rolled to a 12-run win…LF Theodis Bowe went 4-for-5 with an RBI and 3 runs scored…2b Billy Hamilton added 3 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI…SS Devin Lohman (2-for-5, 2r) belted his 1st home run and drove in 5…DH Donald Lutz (2-for-5, 2r, 2rbi) also went deep (#4)…RHP Jesus Adames (1-2) started for Billings and pitched 5.0 scoreless innings (3h, 0bb).

AZL DODGERS 9, AZL REDS 4: RHP Carlos Contreras (2-4) started for the Redlegs and gave up 5 runs (3er) on 5 hits in 3.2 innings (1bb, 2k, 1hr)…the Reds scored 4 runs on 9 hits (3-for-11 w/RISP, 9 LOB)…CF Kurtis Muller went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI.

MINOR LEAGUE NEWS

FIRST PLACE BATS
With last night’s win at Toledo, the Louisville Bats took over first place in the International League West Division by a 0.5 game over Columbus…it was their 8th straight victory…the Bats are now a season-high 17 games over .500, 24-3 since the All-Star break and 35-12 in the second half of the season…from 7/1 to 7/4 the Bats were 13.0 games out of the division lead…Louisville tonight begins a 3-game series at Columbus.

Louisville’s Wladimir Balentien has hit safely in each of his last 10 games (22-for-44, .500, 6r) to raise his batting average from .241 to .274.
