COLUMBUS (INDIANS) 7, LOUISVILLE 5:Columbus scored a pair of runs in the top of the 10th off RHP Enerio Del Rosario (1-2) to win it…RHP James Avery started for Louisville and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings (0bb, 4k)…the Bats scored 5 runs on 7 hits…RF Wladimir Balentien went 2-for-4 with a run scored…SS Zack Cozart (#12) and DH Danny Dorn (#6) both homered.

CAROLINA MUDCATS: The Mudcats were off yesterday celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first publishing of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird…To celebrate, Mudcats manager David Bell dressed up as Atticus Finch and read the entire novel to his team in the Mudcats clubhouse…at certain points in the story, Bell asked players to volunteer for live reenactments…if you’re wondering who dressed up in the “Ham” costume, it was IF Eric Eymann.

LYNCHBURG 5, WINSTON-SALEM (WSOX) 4: RHP Mark Serrano started for Lynchburg but left the game after 2.0 innings with an oblique strain (2h, 3r/2er, 2bb)…RHP Jeff Jeffords (2-0) fired 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory (1bb, 3k)…LHP Donnie Joseph notched his 7th save (1ip, 1bb, 3k)…the Hillcats plated 5 runs on 10 hits…3b Carlos Mendez went 3-for-3 with a run and a walk…DH Shane Carlson drove in a pair of runs…LF Josh Fellhauer collected 2 hits.

GREAT LAKES 3, DAYTON 1:LF Alex Oliveras provided Dayton’s lone run with a 7th inning homer…RHP J.C. Sulbaran (4-5) started for the Dragons and allowed 3 runs (2er) on 6 hits in 6.0 innings (2bb, 7k)…RHP Blair Carson gave up just 1 hit over 3.0 scoreless innings of relief. 

HELENA 4, BILLINGS 9: The Mustangs scored 4 runs in the 1st and 4 more in the 3rd to put this one out of reach…RF Juan Duran paced the offense with 2 hits and 3 RBI (1r)…DH Donald Lutz went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, a walk and a run scored…LHP Tanner Robles started for Billings and was reached for 4 runs in 3.0 innings…RHP Daniel Wolford (1-2) earned the win in relief (3ip, 2h, 0r, 1bb, 2k).

AZL MARINERS 5, AZL REDS 3: LF Juan Silva homered, doubled and drove in 3 runs…RHP Jonathan Correa (1-2) started for the Redlegs and allowed 4 runs (1er) on 6 hits in 5.0 innings (2bb, 3k).


The US team defeated the entire World by a score of 9-1 in yesterday’s All-Star Futures Game in Anaheim…the Reds were represented by 2 players on the World Team – 1b Yonder Alonso and LHP Philippe Valiquette…Alonso started at first base and batted third…he went 1-for-4 with a strikeout…Valiquette pitched 0.2 scoreless inning of relief, allowing no hits and issuing 1 walk.

The North Division will square off against the South Division in tonight’s Southern League All-Star Game at Huntsville’s Joe Davis Stadium…Gametime is 7:30pm ET…the Carolina Mudcats will be represented on the North squad by IF Jake Kahaulelio, IF Mike Costanzo, OF Sean Henry, OF Dave Sappelt and LHP Tom Cochran…RHP Matt Klinker was also named to the team but will not participate due to his promotion to Triple-A Louisville.
