Scott Rolen belted his 16th home run of the season when he took Aaron Laffey deep in the 2nd inning. It marked Rolen’s 299th career homer.
Brandon Phillips, Orlando Cabrera and Jay Bruce had 2 hits apiece.
Joey Votto walked twice to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 33 consecutive games. It’s the longest such streak by a Red since Dante Bichette reached safely in 33 straight in 2000.
With tonight’s win and Cardinals’ loss, Cincinnati soars back into sole possession of first place in the National League Central.
