Appearances by Reds Players, Reduced Adoption Fees, and Fun for Families
(FORT MITCHELL, KY) – Meet a Reds players Chris Heisey*, Chris Dickerson*, and Nick Masset* at the Kenton County Animal Shelter’s Adopt-a-Thon on Saturday June 12. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shelter’s adoption center located at 1020 Mary Laidley Drive, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017. Heisey will be meeting Reds fans and animal lovers from 11 a.m. to noon*, and Dickerson and Masset will be on hand from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m*. (*Subject to change.)
During the Adopt-a-Thon, adoption fees for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens will be reduced to just $60. Or, adopt a pair of cats or kittens for the price of one.
Featured at this year’s Adopt-a-Thon are dog-training demonstrations, pet portrait drawn, gifts for pets and pet lovers, and refreshments — both for people and their pets. Dogs who have had a little too much springtime rain and mud can enjoy a “Dirty Dog Wash,” complete with shampoo, towels, and a nail trim. A donation of $5 is requested. For only $20, pet owners can have their pets microchipped at the event.
“Late spring is traditionally a busy time of year for the shelter — a time when we see a dramatic increase in our intake of adoptable animals,” says Dan Evans, Kenton County Animal Shelter Director. “This year’s Adopt-a-Thon is a wonderful opportunity to meet adoptable animals and take advantage of reduced adoption fees while having a great time with your family.”
Families who are considering adopting during the event are encouraged to bring all family members to the Adopt-a-Thon, including children and resident dogs. Leashed dogs (no flexible/retractable leashes, please) and cats secured in carriers are welcome to attend.
