PAWTUCKET (RED SOX) 7, LOUISVILLE 2: LHP Aroldis Chapman (5-3) started for Louisville and allowed 7 runs on 6 hits in 2.0 innings (6bb, 1k,1hr)…RHP Jesus Delgado was outstanding in his 4.0 scoreless innings of relief, scattering 3 hits with 5 strikeouts (0bb)…the Bats scored 2 runs on 9 hits…2b Chris Valaika went 3-for-4 with a double…1b Yonder Alonso celebrated another Reds #1 draft pick from the “U” with a solo homer in the 6th inning…3b Todd Frazier and C Wilkin Castillo added 2 hits apiece.
CAROLINA 0, CHATTANOOGA (DODGERS) 3: RHP Scott Carroll (1-2) was fantastic in the hard-luck loss, allowing just 2 unearned runs on 3 hits in 7.0 innings (0er, 4bb, 2k)…the Mudcats were blanked on 4 hits…2b Jake Kahaulelio went 2-for-4.
LYNCHBURG 4, SALEM (RED SOX) 5: Salem plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to erase a 4-2 deficit and beat Lynchburg…RHP Justin Freeman (1-2) suffered the loss in relief (1.1ip, 4h, 3r/2er, 2k)…LHP Bill Bray fanned 4 of the 6 batters he faced in his 2.0 perfect innings of relief…RHP Jordan Hotchkiss started for the Hillcats and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5.0 innings (1bb, 3k, 1hr)…Lynchburg plated 4 runs on 8 hits…3b Alex Buchholz went 2-for-3 with his 4th home run of the season.
DAYTON DRAGONS: The Dragons were off yesterday celebrating Prince’s 52nd birthday…in recognition of this special day, Dragons’ manager Todd Benzinger hosted a “Prince Party” at which members of the entire Dayton organization including players and front office personnel, dressed up in tiny purple clothes and jammed out to the pop star’s laundry list of hit songs…the party’s finest moment came when Dragons’ pitching coach Tony Fossas, dressed as Apollonia, sang a roaring rendition of “Lets Go Crazy.”

HOMER TONIGHT IN SYRACUSE
RHP Homer Bailey has been sent to Class AAA Louisville on a rehabilitation assignment and will start for the Bats tonight at Syracuse…Bailey has been on the disabled list since 5/24 with inflammation in his right shoulder…he went 1-2, 5.51 in 9 starts for the Reds prior to the injury…he is eligible to come off the disabled list today.
Louisville’s Drew Sutton has reached base safely in each of his last 25 games…it’s the longest on-base streak of the season in the International League…during the streak, Sutton is batting .370 (30-for-81) with 2 homers, 15 walks and a .470 on-base percentage.
HI, I’M CARROLL!
In his 4 games since being promoted to Carolina from Lynchburg on 5/20, RHP Scott Carroll is 1-2 with a 0.76 ERA (7r/2er, 23.2ip, 9bb, 9k)…overall this season, between Lynchburg and Carolina, the 25 year-old has allowed just 9 earned runs over 53.2 innings (9 games/8 starts)…Carroll was selected by the Reds in the 3rd round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
