INDIANAPOLIS (PIRATES) 3, LOUISVILLE 0: LHP Travis Wood (0-2) started for Louisville and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 6.2 innings (3bb, 5k)…he also collected 2 of the Bats’ 4 hits at the plate…RHP Enerio Del Rosario gave up a run in 0.2 innings of relief (3h, 1bb)…C Wilkin Castillo went 1-for-3 with a double.
MONTGOMERY (RAYS) 3, CAROLINA 0: Carolina was blanked on 3 hits…RHP Matt Klinker started for the Mudcats and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 5.2 innings (2bb, 6k).
SALEM (RED SOX) 3, LYNCHBURG 5: Another outstanding performance by LHP Matt Fairel (2-0)…he started for Lynchburg and pitched 6.0 no-hit innings (5k), retiring 18 of the 19 batters he faced…the only batter to get on base reached on an error…LHP Mace Thurman notched his 3rd save (1ip, 1h, 1r, 1bb, 1k)…3b Jose Gualdron went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored…RF Josh Fellhauer went 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
DAYTON 5, FT. WAYNE (PADRES) 6…(12 INNINGS): The Ft. Wayne curse continues…Dayton led 5-4 in the bottom of the 12th, but a throwing error followed by an RBI-single led to the tying and winning runs to score for Ft. Wayne…SS Didi Gregorius went 3-for-6 with a double…1b Chris Richburg belted a grand slam in the 7th inning…RHP Pedro Villareal started for Dayton and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 6.0 innings (2bb, 4k)…RHP Doug Salinas (1-1) suffered the loss in relief (0.1ip, 2h, 2r, 1er).

FAIR TO PERFECT
LHP Matt Fairel last night for Lynchburg pitched 6.0 near-perfect innings, allowing no hits, no walks and 1 batter to reach via an error by the third baseman…he threw just 78 pitches…in 2 starts so far this season, he’s yet to allow a run over 11.1 innings (3h, 3bb, 7k)…Fairel, 22, is in his second professional season and is now 13-8 with a 2.82 ERA in 29 career starts.
Last night’s loss to the TinCaps extended Dayton’s losing streak at Ft. Wayne to 18 consecutive games…
the Dragons last won at Parkview Field on 6/28/08. Correction: The Dragons have never won at Parkview Field (0-16). The Dragons last won in Ft. Wayne on 6/28/08 in Ft. Wayne’s old ballpark, Memorial Stadium.
