Aroldis Chapman
gave up just 1 hit (a leadoff homer to Rickie Weeks) and fanned 5 over 3.0 innings (1bb).  Kip Wells suffered the loss in relief as he was reached for 4 runs in 2.0 innings.  Wilkin Castillo went 2-for-2 including a long triple to right field.  Milwaukee starter Doug Davis held the Reds bats at bay, pitching 4.0 scoreless innings (3h).

Today’s Better Off Red Question of the Game: If you were hosting a dinner party and could invite 3 current/former Reds players, coaches or managers, who would you choose and what would you cook for them?

Eileen Lerch, Courtney Lerch and Steve Lerch from Radford, VA

Courtney: “We should invite Bronson (Arroyo) because he could entertain everyone with his music.

Steve: One of them who is single so I can connect him with Courtney.  And Billy Hatcher because he’s kind of link to when the team (last won the World Series).  I’d cook them something International, something Mexican or Chinese or something that would appeal to everybody.

(blog note: Courtney is single and attending graduate school at George Washington University in D.C.)

Patty Kruezer and Paul Kreuzer from Goodyear, AZ and Brittney from New York

Paul: Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Dusty Baker.  Dusty is a former San Francisco manager and is definitely one of the best managers in the league.  Jay Bruce is one of the outstanding emerging home run hitters.  Joey is one of the better first basemen in the league and has the ability to show others how good he can be as time goes on.”

Ned Katterheinrich and Jim Enright of Venice FL and Fred Crishner from Wilmington, OH.

Ned: Johnny Bench, Ted Kluszewski and Sparky Anderson and I’d fix very good quality grilled grouper.”

Jim: Ted Kluszewski, Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier and I’d cook the best steaks they ever had in their lives.”

Fred: Bronson Arroyo, Joey Votto and Jay Bruce and I’d have a good ol’ cookout with hamburgers.”

Jim Leonard from Wadsworth, OH (near Akron)

Jim: Johnny Bench, Pete Rose and Tony Perez and I’d cook ribs.”

Wendy and Lorrie from Wisconsin

Wendy: Laynce Nix, Jay Bruce and David Weathers.  I’d cook spaghetti.”

Lorrie: “Yeah, Stormy (Weathers).  Probably an Italian buffet of some sort.”

There was a Reds Media Relations Interns reunion in the pressbox today.  Chris Macaluso (media relations intern class of ’01) and Shun Miyamura (media relations intern class of ’07) stopped by to catch up and say hello.  Macaluso is now working in the sports information department at Pepperdine University and Miyamura is just starting work in the New York offices for the Yomiuri Giants.
