Hi all.  Now that Better Off Red is being linked from the mother ship (reds.com), I’d like to take a second to properly introduce myself and to give you an idea what to expect from this here blog.  First, some of you more hardcore Reds fans might recognize my name as the author of the daily Reds minor league report that I write during the season.  And if so, you’ll know I like to keep things loose.  For the rest of you who have no idea who I am, you’ll soon find out that I’m good for a few laughs, but will mostly make you roll your eyes and shake your head.
The goal of this blog is to give you an entertaining look into what goes on with the Cincinnati Reds, from an “insider’s perspective.”  As an assistant director of media relations, I’m around every level of Reds employee here at the ballpark, from the front office to the players to the ticket takers and ushers.  In my opinion, each is as interesting as the next and I plan on proving it by introducing these people to you.  I’m also going to take you behind the scenes and show you some of the things that are usually restricted to the everyday fan.  I have clubhouse and field access, I occasionally travel with the team, I work Redsfest, I’m on location during Spring Training, I’m on the bus with the Reds Caravan, I’ll be at the Winter Meetings and on Saturday I will travel to Philadelphia to work for Major League Baseball at the National League Championship Series.  Thanks to modern technology, I intend to “bring you along” for all of it.
I have my finger on the pulse of the team and can talk baseball with anyone, but the aim of this blog isn’t to dissect Aaron Harang’s WHIP or Joey Votto’s OPS or even to second guess why Dusty made a certain move during a certain game.  Frankly, that stuff lends itself to tired, obnoxious arguments.  If the Reds are your Chocolate Factory, I intend to be your Willy Wonka.  Just don’t be a “bad egg,” it didn’t work for Veruca Salt.

So in conclusion, if I may steal a very important message from Bill Cosby, This is Jamie Ramsey. Stay tuned for music, adventure, and fun and you might learn something before it’s done. So let’s get started okay?!”
